6.0L FICM REPROGRAMMING & ECM/TCM ROLLBACK
|
| |
|
Send Your FICM to Us or Reprogram Your FICM Remotely
|
Please See Price List
Please be aware that there is
a currently a 4-12 week wait for remote programmers.
We have fifteen programmers that are out and about at
any given time. Every day, however, we receive
new orders for remote programming. Orders are processed in the order they are
received. Customers receive an e-mail when a
programmer is available. We do not process a
customer's credit card until we receive confirmation.
A running list of customer's waiting for remote
programmers can be found to the right. If you have
completed your order form recently, your name may not
appear on the list yet. If you completed your
order more than two weeks ago, and your name does not
appear on the list, please e-mail Corey:
corey@phptune.com
so that she can check on your order; you will be placed
in queue according to your order date. When a
programmer becomes available, it will be offered to the
customer at the top of the list.
If you cannot wait 4-12 weeks for a programmer to become
available, you are welcome to ship your FICM and/or ECM/TCM
to us. In most cases there is a 24 hour turnaround
for reprogramming. Please call us if you have any
questions.
AS OF APRIL 1, 2011, WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR REMOTE
PROGRAMMERS OUTSIDE THE 48 CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES
BECAUSE OF THE EXTENDED TURNAROUND TIME, WHICH CAN
OFTEN BE AS MUCH AS 4-6 WEEKS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE
TO GET OUR FICM AND/OR ECM REPROGRAMMING, YOU MUST SEND
YOUR UNITS DIRECTLY TO US. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE
INCONVENIENCE.

When it was released, the '03 6.0L Power Stroke was an impressive powerhouse.
Variable Vane Turbo technology and 4 valve heads helped the engine produce power levels that would overshadow
the earlier 7.3L Power Stroke engines. Unfortunately, it was equally plagued with mechanical failures. This,
combined with an inadequate supply of replacement parts, gave the early 6.0L a horrible reputation among Ford
enthusiasts.
2005 saw the release of the redesigned 6.0L engine with radical changes to the cylinder heads which helped
improve head gasket sealing and virtually eliminated coolant leaks. Unfortunately, this year also saw the
release of Engine Control Module (ECM) and Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) updates that limited
power output of the engine and severely degraded fuel economy. Also, in an effort to reduce further issues on
the '03 and '04 model years, the same power limiting calibrations were loaded into any vehicle that happened
to wander into a Ford dealership for service. Often, these "updates" were applied without the knowledge
(or approval) of the vehicle owners. Imagine the surprise of 6.0L owners everywhere who went in for a simple oil
change and lost 3-5 MPG INSTANTLY!

Now Is The Time to Get Back Your Truck's Power, Driveability, and Fuel Economy!
|
We generally tune the 6.0L ECM/TCM for horsepower gains. (We offer the Gryphon,
Gryphon CS, Gryphon CTS, and SCT custom tuning.) We offer two different 6.0L FICM calibrations -- one with
Ford's most current inductive heating strategy (which replaced the inductive heating strategy that is known
for destroying FICMs) and one without. With our hybrid FICM calibrations, most customers see fuel economy gains
as well as tip-in throttle response and better overall driveability between idle and 1800 rpm. (We also
eliminate that annoying injector post buzz.) When used in conjunction with modified ECM strategies, we can see
considerable gains through the powerband right up to the Rev Limit.
We are frequently asked, "Just how much difference will I realistically see by changing the FICM and/or the ECM
strategies?" We have the dyno plots that show just what you can normally expect from reprogramming your ECM andFICM.
The vehicle we tested was a 2004 F-250 2WD with 283,000 miles.
Vehicle test conditions: Engine at full operating temperature, 3rd Gear, Converter Locked.
Weather test conditions: 95ºF, 58% Humidity, 30.03 in/Hg Barometer.
To read the dyno charts, the HP scale is on the left and the Torque scale is on the right.

and a modified strategy when running an agressive 140 HP calibration (click image to enlarge):

later "Inferred EBP" strategy and an earlier version (click image to enlarge):
Often, customers with later ECM strategies will not see the same results from a FICM Reflash that customers with earlier
ECM strategies do. Ford dealerships do not have the capability to reprogram your ECM/TCM to an earlier, more
desireable calibration; PHP, however, can! If your current calibration is VXCF7xx, VXCF9xx,
VXAP2xx, or VXBC9xx, we strongly recommend that you request an ECM/TCM rollback in conjunction with your FICM
reprogramming. If you are currently using a programmer with custom tunes, your tunes will have to be rewritten to
work with the new ECM code. If you are not currently using a programmer in your truck, we can also custom program
your ECM/TCM with a tow or performance program; we can also program it to work with your EGR delete.

WARNING:
DRIVING WITH A DAMAGED FICM CAN BE DETRIMENTAL TO OTHER
INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS!
IF YOUR FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE IS ALREADY SHOWING
SIGNS THAT IT MAY BE STARTING TO FAIL (HARD STARTING,
INJECTOR RELATED DTCs, ETC.), WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU
CONTACT JONATHAN OR DAVE AT SWAMP'S DIESEL TO HAVE IT
REPAIRED; THEY CAN ALSO REPROGRAM YOUR FICM WITH OUR
MODIFIED CALIBRATION WHILE IT'S AT THEIR SHOP!
